Who we are
Rural Business Support has up to date information on grants and funding assistance that rural business owners in financial hardship may be able to apply for, as well other professional services and support to help with managing health and wellbeing.
Sometimes life in rural and regional Australia deals unique challenges that can feel impossible to overcome on your own.
Beyond Blue’s Money and Mental Health Social Research Report released in August 2022 identified that “people experiencing financial challenges are at least twice as likely to encounter mental health issues than those who aren’t, and vice versa.”
That’s not to say that everyone with financial troubles will develop mental health and wellbeing issues, but you might find yourself ‘languishing’. That is, not getting the most out of life, experiencing decision paralysis, feeling a bit ‘blah’, not able to concentrate and disengaging socially. And there are always those worries that keep you up at night.
At Rural Business Support, we know that access to practical mental health and wellbeing support is critical to many of our clients.
That’s why we’ve backed 2022 Farmer of the Year: Excellence in Agricultural Research Awards and National LiFE Award for Innovation from Suicide Prevention Australia Winner, Dr Kate Gunn and ifarmwell as an online resource to grow farmers’ wellbeing.
While ifarmwell is a ‘farmerised’ mental health program, developed by Australian Farmers for Australian farmers, our Small Business Financial Counselling clients have found it beneficial as well. The program uses the same language that most rural folk do, and it builds on strengths, beliefs and preferences, so that health and wellbeing strategies are meaningful and more likely to be adopted in the real world.
